What is Hypnosis?

A hypnotic trance is a relaxed, focused state of concentration, which everyone can achieve.

Everyone experiences trance differently. But usually it’s similar to that pleasant feeling of deep calm that we experience just before falling asleep at night, or just before waking in the morning. Every time you drift into a daydream, or get absorbed in a book or a TV programme, you are in trance.

Hypnosis is an entirely natural state and you remain aware and in control at all times. Contrary to the commonly-held misconception enhanced by stage / TV hypnotists, you cannot be made to say or do anything against your will.

During hypnosis, your mind is more open to positive suggestions and you have the control to only accept suggestions that you wish to accept.
